Dr. Richard T. Kotomori Jr.

I am a psychiatrist because I love the field. I love my patients. I love the questions and complexity and mystery. I love to witness the interface of biology, sociology, personality, spirit, psychology and circumstance. For me, working with people as a psychiatrist is a forever intriguing endeavor. At this point I would not be as happy doing anything else. Throughout my adolescence my mother often told me that I would become either a scientist or a priest. While I have left the religion, I have discovered within the field of psychiatry a continuum between the scientific and the ethereal, where the limits of what is known factually broach upon what we believe intuitively, what we know experientially, and what we hope to be possible. I bring all of this to the treatment planning process with my patients when we put our heads together to consider their goals, what is known about treatment approaches and what we can hope to achieve.

Dr. Michael McCormick

Since high school, I have been fascinated with the field of Psychology. As a result, I received a Dual Degree from The Ohio State University in Psychology and Criminology. After undergraduate, I completed my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) at Argosy University/Washington DC. After graduating, in 2007, my passion Forensic Psychology, led to start my career at Department of State Hospitals-Patton as a Staff Psychologist. During my time as a Staff Psychologist, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of patients with different legal commitments. My work included providing individual and group therapy, treatment planning, crisis intervention, court report writing, developing behavioral plans, and Psychological Assessments. In December 2021, I was promoted to Senior Psychologist Supervisor. This position allows me the opportunity to enhance my supervisory/administrative skills. Luckily, I am still afforded the opportunity to continue doing some clinical work. Since 2015, I have had the please of providing psychological service to clients at Quality Life Group, which include therapy and Psychological Assessment. My areas of focus include the following: Psychotic Disorders, Mood Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Trauma. In therapy, generally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral and Object Relations theories and interventions. Regarding Psychological Assessment, the primary purpose is for diagnostic clarification. Over the years, I also have had multiple experiences supervising Psychology Practicum Students, and Psychological Assistants. The main focus of their trainings were Psychological Evaluations and treatment groups and an individual therapy respectively.
